Watersedge Dental Laboratory provides industry-leading sleep appliance services to Ottawa area dentists.
The right dental sleep device can drastically improve a patient’s quality of life. At Watersedge Dental Laboratory, we partner with you to carefully select and deliver oral sleep appliances that offer much-needed relief for your patients.
We understand that every treatment plan is unique. To help you provide exceptional patient care, our team is available to discuss sleep appliance options and answer your questions. Our technical expertise, robust quality control program and advanced equipment allow us to deliver the highest quality sleep devices on the market today.
Our oral appliance therapy (OAT) solutions are designed for patients suffering from sleep disorders such as snoring, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), nighttime bruxism (clenching or grinding), temporomandibular disorder (TMD), or a combination of symptoms.
The Myerson EMA is a removable, noninvasive treatment of snoring and moderate obstructive sleep apnea. Consisting of two trays that fit over the upper and lower arches, the device is held together by wide elastic bands. Comfort level and positioning (both mandibular advancement and lateral movement) are defined by the tension and length of the bands. Patients with an elastic mandibular advancement appliance can easily change the bands at home and are able to talk and drink while wearing the device.
Watersedge Dental Laboratory EMA offerings:
1. Laminate trays: standard offering, lightweight, more economical
2. Thermaflex trays: thicker material with greater fracture resistance, ideal for patients with a history of clenching

Fabricated using CAD/CAM digital printing technology, the Panthera D-SAD (“digital sleep apnea device”) offers relief from snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. Like other mandibular advancement devices, our 3D printed Panthera sleep appliance utilizes two splints and adjustable rods to hold the lower jaw in a forward position. Printed in a homogeneous material without layers, it is lightweight yet highly durable. Due to its comfortable and sleek design, it has quickly become a favourite among patients.
The SleepEase is a dorsal fin appliance. This popular design is rigid, similar to a sports mouth guard. It efficiently retains open airways and is commonly used to alleviate snoring and OSA symptoms. The appliance advances the mandible via adjustable screws to achieve maximum patient comfort.
SleepEase Guidelines for Use and Care
A fixed sleep appliance is non-adjustable. Designed to treat snoring, it features an upper and lower tray fused together with an air hole and tongue space to allow for easy breathing. This device fixes the mandible in a given position, so an accurate bite record is crucial. A fixed snoring appliance is ideal for particularly strong individuals (with large masseter muscles) or patients who easily destroy adjustable oral appliances.
To request a sleep appliance from Watersedge, we require the following information:
Extremely accurate models allow for precise manufacturing of the desired sleep device. Both maxillary and mandibular impressions are needed, and either physical or digital impressions of the upper and lower teeth are accepted.
Both centric and protrusive bites are required. The latter must accurately demonstrate where the mandible relates to the maxilla in the protrusive position.
Each script should indicate patient diagnosis and the needed sleep device. Often, a request for a call accompanies the prescription. Watersedge welcomes these discussions as many considerations (e.g. age, strength, financial situation, existing restorations, future dental needs) can influence the choice of sleep device.
Production time for sleep appliances is seven days or less.
Note: If your patient presents with sleep apnea, always confirm that a proper evaluation (performed by medical professionals at a sleep clinic) was completed. Severe cases of sleep apnea require the use of a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device. Oral sleep appliances are designed to treat mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea or can serve as an alternative treatment for patients who are medically unable to tolerate a CPAP device.
